Congratulations to our U15’s for reaching the County Cup final…

Well Done Lads…

Parkwyddn would like to congratulate our U15’s for reaching the County Cup final. Last season the team had huge success on winning a League and Cup double on both Saturday and Sunday, unfortunately they missed out on their first County Cup final on penalties in the semi-finals. This season they set their sights on trying to emulate the success of last season, in reality the success the previous season was of such a high standard it was always going to be a huge task to even match the previous achievements. The team entered the two league’s and were looking to defend them, on the back of the two leagues the team entered the County Cup hoping that they could have a good run as they have in previous years. The defence of the League and Cup was going strong in such a manner that they were top of both tables and they had reached the Semi-Finals of both cups in the respective leagues they were in for most of the season, with such a demanding schedule and losing players to academies and Trafford Boys, one player being there keeper, forced them to use outfield players in net for the remainder of the Saturday season, the coaches had to pick the team to suit the build-up of fixtures against some tough teams. They then had to prioritise their options and even though they wanted to win all of the silverware available they targeted the County Cup as one that they wanted with it being one of the hardest competition to win at grass roots football. A run of fixtures in April with almost 5 games a week saw the league surrendered on a Saturday and two losses in two semi-finals saw them crash out of both cups but a week before the season finished they wrapped up the Sunday League title with a game to spare. The draw in the County Cup they had looked like it was going to be a tall order from the start due to the high level of opposition that they would face to get to the final even with the quality they boast themselves, some of the opposition the team had to play in their draw were of a high standard, the likes of Fletcher Moss (Last Year’s winners) 2nd Round, Vipers 3rd round, Egerton FC in the quarter finals but the biggest test was West End in the Semi Finals, these fixtures along with two Leagues and two Cups was a huge task but they progressed into the final defeating all of the teams in a very convincing style. The blow of missing out on 3 targeted trophies is softened as the team has reached its first County Cup final which in our Parkwyddn JFC 30-year history has only been done once before. A big well done to Ste Walton and Dave Walton, the boys in the team and all of the Volunteers and the Committee members at Parkwyddn.

The final will be held at Hyde Utd FC on Sunday 20th, Kick Off is 1.30pm and is £4 entry. All your support would be welcome.

Good Luck in the final.
