Our Parkwyddn JFC U9 Predators team was kindly invited along to Irlam FC today to be mascots for the day, walking out the team ahead of their FA Vase second match against Hemsworth Miners Welfare. Both teams have never progressed further than this stage in their history so this was very meaningful match. The final for whichever teams make will be played at Wembley…
Arranged by Steve Nixon, Irlam FC Club Chairman, the day started with the predators having a tour of the dressing room with the Team Manager Michael Dodd. A great experience for our young lads.
Shortly after it was time to walk out with the team. Again another great experience for them. It was then time to take their seats and watch the 1st half…Not a great first half for Irlam as they went in at the break 1-0 down.
During the interval the team were treated to Hot Dogs shortly after taking part in a penalty shootout with one of the Irlam FC Goalkeepers. With their stomachs taken care it was back to the seats for the second half…
Well, this really was a game of two half’s. It wasn’t long before Irlam was back in the match, 1-1. Tempers began to flare as the pressure increased. Irlam took the lead with their second goal before the Hemsworth defence had a mix up which led to a 3rd goal for Irlam, easing the pressure. It was simply a matter of running down the clock and the whistle went, onto the next round for the first time in their history, fantastic.
The boys had a great time today, loved every minute. A great experience. So, on behalf of the U9 Predators, the players and their families, Parkwyddn JFC would like to thank Steve Nixon for arranging the day, the Irlam FC manager, the players and everyone else at Irlam FC for making today special for the lads.
