Under 9’s Predators v QFA Reds

Under 9’s Predators v QFA Reds

A very early and wet kick off at Failsworth soccer centre this morning. Not sure whether the boys had been up early watching Tyson Fury but they all arrived fresh, in confident mood and ready to go. We played the same team earlier in the season and they outplayed us so we were keen to improve today and show what they can really do. From the first whistle we looked dangerous. We looked calm at the back and always looking positive playing the ball forward. There were plenty of chances for both teams but today we took ours very well and defended superbly.
Aiden wore the gloves today and pulled off some top class saves including one which he managed to stretch and tip over the bar.His distribution was quick from goal kicks and he could use his long range to set us off on the attack.
Zak and Lucas played at the back today with Alex in the holding midfield role just infront. The three of them worked brilliantly together and covered each other when one went forward. If someone went past one of them their team mate was right there to help, brilliant to watch. All three of them tackled hard and used the ball well. Zak scored a well taken free kick early on in the game.
Riley was up against a big opponent but really gave him problems. He hit the post early on and then kept going and got a well deserved goal at the end with a good finish.
John dominated the pitch today, winning the personal battles and adding another goal as well as 2 long range efforts which came really close.
Joshua added another goal with a neat finish around the keeper. His link up play with the midfield was impressive today too.
I think everyone who watched today saw a big improvement in how the team are starting to put together some good play moving the ball between all the players and being a lot more of a threat going forward from all angles. Today was really enjoyable to watch and the boys deserve a lot of praise for the quality of their play and the amount of effort they all put in. Well done.
Cup games start next week….
Man of the Match – Zak

Under 9’s Predators vs SK Vipers

Under 9’s Predators vs SK Vipers

Superb team effort today with a very impressive win against a good SK Vipers team who we had a an end to end game with earlier in the season. We have spoke a lot with the boys about starting games at a fast pace, something which has sometimes cost us games in the past due to taking a while to get going. Today the Predators were straight on the attack from the kick off quickly putting pressure on the opposition. We kept possession well and put together lots of neat passes with players getting themselves into good spaces. There was a lot of unselfish play today with the team recognising when team mates were in better positions and releasing the ball early.
Alex had a quality game today, his handling was really good and he rushed off his line twice to deny their striker when one on one.
Emanuel continued his run of strong performances with some hard tackles and good reading of danger.
Aiden intercepted too many passes to count, he anticipated a lot of their play and put a strong foot in at the right time.
Lucas played really well today, i think he won every tackle he went in for and what is impressive is that he doesnt panic after winning the ball, he takes half a second to look up and make his next move.
Daniel dominated in the holding midfield role linking everything together and putting pressure on non stop also adding a great finish from the left into the far corner.
Riley continued his good form, running back and putting more tackles in. He is improving everyweek with his passing and also grabbed another goal with a poachers finish. He’ll be annoyed if i dont mention the run he went on which beat 3 ( he reckons 6) players, so there you go.
Zak’s effort was 100% today, he put in some brilliant work down the wing showing skill and pace to move the attacks on quickly then providing good crosses into the box.
John was outstanding today. Tackling very hard and letting the opponents know he was there. He is a very unselfish player and was always looking to play the final ball in for one of his team mates. He never gets tired and has hugely improved the team overall since he joined.
Joshua was really in the mood for this today, he didnt stop, chasing down everything where there might be a slight chance that he can make something of it which he usually can! He physically won the battle today and added some well taken goals adding another hat trick to the expense of his mum and dad’s bank account.

A big improvement from the last time we played this well organised team. The work in training is being brought into the games on Sundays and its really starting to show. Well done boys

Man of the match – John

U9 Predators v Collyhurst Youth Blues

U9 Predators v Collyhurst Youth Blues

First game of 2020 was an 8 goal thriller with both teams playing high standard football. Collyhurst are a good technical team who pass the ball about confidently.
The first ten minutes were a bit of a wake up call for us, conceding an early goal and this prompted the boys to shake off the Christmas ‘hangover’ and get back to business. What followed was a strong and energetic team performance with every player giving 100%.
Alex continued his great form in goal with loud shouts, great kicking and fast reactions off his line. He was unlucky with a couple of the goals but kept a positive head.
Aiden was eager to get back after Christmas and put in another solid display. He went on a run that beat 3 or 4 players and was brought down just before unleashing the jackhammer!!
A big mention for Emanuel today who has shown improvement every week since he joined the team. Today his confidence really showed and he won nearly all the tackles he went in for and looks much more comfortable with the ball at his feet and played some clever balls forward. Emanuel has been with us for about 6 months and the progress he has made is great to see.
John was all over the pitch today, some crunching tackles made at important moments. John was calm when receiving the ball and then showed a burst of pace to get us on the attack quickly. His link up play with Joshua and Riley was excellent today.
Lucas showed great skill and provided some great assists. Lucas can switch it on in an instant and is a clever player. He switched positions today easily which is a great plus for the team tactically.
Daniel was superb at taking control of the game today. He keep the ball at his feet and generated space for players to run into. He also read the game very well and intercepted attacks several times.
Joshua battled against their central defender all day and didnt give him any peace. He was loud and great at giving directions out to encourage us to be quick to mark oppostion players. He showed lightning pace to run onto a great through ball and then the composure to finish easily.
Riley put in a performance today which was the best we have seen in a long time. In recent games he has listened and improved with his passing and decision making and also getting in good positions to score. It all came together today with some great link up play with Joshua and John and a very well taken hat trick, particularly the last goal which was a beauty!!! A 10/10 performance from the little smiling assassin!!
A great first game back and lots to look forward to with performances of that standard.

Man of the Match – Riley

Continued best wishes from us all to Jacob on his recovery from injury.

Finally, Alex recently celebrated his 9th birthday with some of the team attending his swimming party which they all enjoyed .Happy Birthday to Alex from the players, coaches and club.

Final game of 2019 – Under 9’s Predators vs Moston Vipers Ninjas

Final game of 2019 – Under 9’s Predators vs Moston Vipers Ninjas

Our final match of 2019 was a great way to end the year. The two teams have played each other 4 or 5 times since summer with some really close games particularly recently. Moston are a good physical side with some quality players. Today’s game ended in a draw with lots of well taken goals. The workrate and attitude from our boys was the best I have seen it.
Alex in goal was loud and quick off his line making a few very important saves. Alex has had a superb 2019 playing in a number of different positions without any fuss.
Emanuel is growing in confidence every week and it’s showing as he is taking control of situations in defence making his prescence known. He was solid today with some important blocks and tackles. Emanuel is developing a good partnership alongside one of the the most calmest and unfazed defenders in the league.. Aiden. Aiden nearly capped his great performance with a solo run through the middle of the pitch just missing the hollywood finish! he’ll get it next time.
John appeared in every position today, he chased everything down, played intelligent passes and added 2 brilliantly taken goals to a 10/10 performance.
Riley played great today with some nice skills and close control which enables him to nip past the much taller lads who were marking him. He is also starting to play the right passes when he needs to which is massively improving his game (after weeks, months and years of us mithering him to !!)
Daniel completely controlled the centre of midfield today and proved to be very frustrating for the opposition. His attitude in the second half was really good to see and he showed more proof of why he is so highly rated.
Joshua took on the captains armband in the summer and he’s really grown into it. He’s a loud positive influence on the pitch and also contributing in the half time team talks and it didnt stop today. Joshua was gambling on everything and made life very hard for their defence, also getting another goal to add to his impressive collection.
A great way to finish the first half of the season with a good result against a team that we have developed a competitive rivalry with.
Thanks to all the players and parents for everything in 2019. Have a great Christmas and new year and we’ll get back to it in 2020 ⚽️⚽️
