Under 9’s Predators v QFA Reds

Under 9’s Predators v QFA Reds

A very early and wet kick off at Failsworth soccer centre this morning. Not sure whether the boys had been up early watching Tyson Fury but they all arrived fresh, in confident mood and ready to go. We played the same team earlier in the season and they outplayed us so we were keen to improve today and show what they can really do. From the first whistle we looked dangerous. We looked calm at the back and always looking positive playing the ball forward. There were plenty of chances for both teams but today we took ours very well and defended superbly.
Aiden wore the gloves today and pulled off some top class saves including one which he managed to stretch and tip over the bar.His distribution was quick from goal kicks and he could use his long range to set us off on the attack.
Zak and Lucas played at the back today with Alex in the holding midfield role just infront. The three of them worked brilliantly together and covered each other when one went forward. If someone went past one of them their team mate was right there to help, brilliant to watch. All three of them tackled hard and used the ball well. Zak scored a well taken free kick early on in the game.
Riley was up against a big opponent but really gave him problems. He hit the post early on and then kept going and got a well deserved goal at the end with a good finish.
John dominated the pitch today, winning the personal battles and adding another goal as well as 2 long range efforts which came really close.
Joshua added another goal with a neat finish around the keeper. His link up play with the midfield was impressive today too.
I think everyone who watched today saw a big improvement in how the team are starting to put together some good play moving the ball between all the players and being a lot more of a threat going forward from all angles. Today was really enjoyable to watch and the boys deserve a lot of praise for the quality of their play and the amount of effort they all put in. Well done.
Cup games start next week….

Parkwyddn U10 Phoenix vs Moorside U10’s

Our U10 Phoenix bounced back from a disappointing cup defeat last week with a fantastic win today. In what was a very respectful game between both sides Parkwyddn U10 Phoenix were really in the mood today. The win keeps their cup hopes alive but more importantly instills a superb confidence ready for the next game. Goals from Josh, Jack, Morgan and Jake helped seal the well deserved victory. Moorside brought a great competitive challenge to the game and in the early parts it could have gone either way. Parkwyddn eventually took the lead which put the fire in their boots going on to win the game comfortably.

Morgan was so close to grabbing his hat trick…

Just Giving – UPDATE 17th January 2020

Just a quick update of how the just giving page is going. Thanks to all the generous people out there we are now 30% towards our Target. We have had an amazing response and not just locally. With everyone’s help we have had donations from local people and businesses, one of our ex-players, premiership winner with Leicester Danny Simpson, a football club from Atherton, Pennington FC and would you believe, a £50 donation all the way from Portsmouth…

When the council announced that we could not fix the pitches we were in a quandary… we had already set up the just giving page and started to take donations. We could with cancel the just giving page or continue and progress with the option they proposed, converting our bowling greens to pitches. These are fenced in, next to our club house, a much safer environment for the younger members.

We released a statement to ensure clarity and honesty and the response has been amazing. Thank you everyone.

Club Statement – Please Read, Just Giving…

Club Statement – Please Read, Just Giving…

We have some important news following the recent vandalism which happened last weekend on our main pitches and our current Just Giving Appeal. Over the last few days we have been in discussion with the local council trying to fully understand the cost and methods we can use to have the repairs carried out so we can get our teams playing the game they love again as quickly as possible. The council have been great, unfortunately there will be no quick fix possible, however they will prepare a fix good enough to make the pitches playable again hopefully in time for this weekend, if not next. The council will be preparing some paperwork to show the long-term cost of putting the pitches back to their best possible condition as they were pre-vandalism. We have informed the council of the just giving page we set up in order to help the club pay for the pitch repairs making them playable again with minimal disruption.

Over the last year or two we have had numerous discussions with the council putting forward our ideas for having a fence installed around the grassed area of the recreation ground as Winton or Eccles parks both have. There were several reasons against this at the time, but this is certainly something we will pursue again in the future. From these discussions we did manage to have the knee rail installed at both ends of the park, which was a huge improvement on what we had, however, obviously this solution has not prevented the continuous attack on our pitches.

So, what does all this mean and what does it mean for our just giving appeal. Well, in summary, the council have suggested that they will generously repair the pitches at no cost to the club which is great news. We have offered to use the funds raised to pay for all materials etc, but the council have proposed a counter solution that would be better for all.

As we are now close to signing the final agreement on the new club house ready to fully take over the property giving Parkwyddn sole use for their members, they propose the following. We let the council take care of all the repairs to the damaged pitches over the coming months. It will be a long process, but they have agreed to take this on in support. They have suggested we use the fundraising to develop the two old bowling greens into football pitches for our younger generation of players, the soccer tots through to possibly our U10’s. The pitches will be developed into 5 v 5 and 7 v 7 pitches. This will provide a much safer environment as both will be part of the club house and all securely surrounded by fencing. The parents will be able to use the club house whilst the players train with refreshments and toilet facilities available.

The main reason for this statement and full explanation is simply to be transparent and clear as these changes may affect your decision as a generous supporter when donating to the just giving page. We want to give all of you the chance to continue to support the amended proposals or if you believe this is not the right thing to do and you would not like to support it, we will without question offer you a full refund of the donations already pledged. If you opt to be refunded, please contact the club by email at [email protected] and this will be arranged. We (Parkwyddn JFC) believe this is by far the best thing to do and now believe we can take a positive from the mess we were in only a few days ago.

Without the councils offer to support us with this, we would not have the option. Without each and everyone one of you who have not only very kindly donated so far, but also those who have spoken of your support through social media platforms including other local football clubs, it has by far exceeded our expectations, we are extremely humbled. It makes everything worthwhile, the time and effort dedicated by everyone at the club, including its volunteers, members and supporters. We have grown in many ways over the last few years and can only see things getting better here on in.

If you have any questions in relation to this club statement, please contact us here: [email protected]

May we take this opportunity to thank everyone for your support.

Best Regards,

Parkwyddn JFC

Just Giving – UPDATE

Just Giving – UPDATE

Parkwyddn JFC would like to express our sincere gratitude for all the kind words and donations made to the club over the last 24 hours. The Just Giving page was set up last night in response to the pitches being damaged and the response has been huge, far beyond our expectations. As a club we are touched by everyone’s time, effort, support and financial contributions to our cause. We will ensure we keep everyone updated with how the money raising is going and ensure full transparency when we are able to carry out the repairs to the pitches. Should we reach our goal and if any monies remain, we will put this towards our club house pitches which are being prepared for our younger generation of players just starting out. As you may or may not be aware we have some small details to finalise at which point we will have the club house (old bowling facility) available to use. The old bowling greens will become smaller pitches for the young ones, these are fenced in and as secure as we can possibly make them. The greens are in need of renovation to switch from bowling greens to football pitches. As we say, we will keep you fully informed of progress.
